Have you ever created a dish so delicious that your family just can’t get enough? One that becomes such a beloved tradition that it’s all they want to eat for weeks at a time? Well, I’ve got one of those recipes — a dish that my family eagerly anticipates every year, and honestly, they could eat it every day if I let them!

This recipe has become a staple in our household, so much so that for a few weeks straight each year, it’s all anyone can talk about, and all anyone wants to eat. From the moment it hits the table, the entire family goes wild for it — no matter how many times we’ve had it. There’s just something magical about this dish that makes it irresistible.

So, what’s the recipe? Let me share with you the dish that has won over my family’s hearts (and stomachs) every year!

### **The Recipe: A Family Favorite Like No Other**

This dish is a combination of rich flavors, comforting ingredients, and the perfect balance of textures that makes it the ultimate comfort food. It’s one of those recipes that’s so simple to make but packs so much flavor that you’ll want to make it time and time again.

But don’t just take my word for it — here’s the recipe that makes it all happen!

### **Ingredients**:
– 2 cups cooked chicken (shredded or diced)
– 1 cup sour cream
– 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
– 1 can cream of chicken soup (or use cream of mushroom soup for a twist)
– 1/2 cup milk
– 1 small onion, finely chopped
– 1 tablespoon butter
– 1 teaspoon garlic powder
– 1 teaspoon paprika
– 1 teaspoon dried thyme
– Salt and pepper to taste
– 4 cups frozen mixed vegetables (carrots, peas, corn, etc.)
– 2 cups mashed potatoes (freshly made or leftover)
– 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional, for extra richness)

### **How to Make It**:

#### **Step 1: Prepare the Chicken and Vegetables**
Start by cooking your chicken. You can either cook it from scratch by boiling or baking chicken breasts, or you can use leftover cooked chicken from a previous meal. Once cooked, shred or dice the chicken into bite-sized pieces.

While the chicken is cooking, cook the frozen mixed vegetables according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.

#### **Step 2: Sauté the Onion**
In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté for 3-4 minutes, or until softened and fragrant. This step adds a savory base to the dish that brings out the richness of the flavor.

#### **Step 3: Combine the Creamy Ingredients**
To the sautéed onions, add the cream of chicken soup, sour cream, and milk. Stir everything together until smooth and creamy. Season with garlic powder, paprika, thyme, salt, and pepper to taste. Allow this mixture to simmer for a few minutes, letting the flavors meld together.

#### **Step 4: Add Chicken and Vegetables**
Once your creamy mixture is well combined, add the cooked chicken and vegetables. Stir to incorporate all the ingredients, ensuring that everything is well coated in the creamy sauce. Let it simmer for a few more minutes to heat through.

#### **Step 5: Layer the Mashed Potatoes**
Now it’s time for the best part — the mashed potatoes! If you’re using fresh mashed potatoes, spoon them on top of the chicken and vegetable mixture in an oven-safe dish. If you’re using leftover mashed potatoes, that works too! Just spread the potatoes evenly over the top of the chicken and veggie mixture.

**Step 6: Add Parmesan and Bake**
For a little extra flavor and richness, sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese over the mashed potatoes. Place the dish in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly.
