**Ingredients:**
– 1 cup white vinegar
– 1 cup warm water
– 2 tablespoons baking soda
– 2 tablespoons hydrogen peroxide (3%)
– 1 teaspoon dish soap (clear, mild soap like Dawn)
– A spray bottle
### **Instructions:**
1. **Pre-Treat the Stain:** If dealing with pet urine, first blot up as much liquid as possible using a paper towel or cloth. Do not rub, as this will push the stain deeper into the carpet.
2. **Apply Baking Soda:** Sprinkle baking soda generously over the stained area. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes to absorb moisture and neutralize odors.
3. **Mix the Cleaning Solution:** In a spray bottle, combine white vinegar, warm water, hydrogen peroxide, and dish soap. Shake gently to mix.
4. **Spray the Stain:** Spray the solution directly onto the baking soda-covered area. The mixture will fizz—this is normal and helps lift the stain!
5. **Let It Work:** Allow the solution to sit for about 10–15 minutes to break down the stain.
6. **Scrub & Blot:** Use a clean cloth or soft brush to gently scrub the area, then blot with a dry towel to soak up excess moisture.
7. **Vacuum:** Once completely dry, vacuum the area to remove any remaining baking soda residue.
## **Additional Tips for Tough Stains & Odors**
– For **deep-set pet urine smells**, repeat the process and allow the vinegar solution to soak in longer before blotting.
– If using on **colored carpets**, do a patch test first to ensure the hydrogen peroxide doesn’t cause fading.
– This cleaner also works on **food spills, coffee stains, and general grime**—just adjust the soaking time accordingly.
